Ashwaubenon WI, a village of 17,000 residents, sits inside of the Green Bay Metropolitan Area and is a part of Brown County. Located near the mouth of Fox River and in proximity of Hobart and De Pere, Ashwaubenon is conveniently close to larger population centers.

A Brief History of Ashwaubenon WI

Ashwaubenon was one of the last Native American Indian villages to be sold by the local Sioux tribe.  The name Ashwaubenon comes from a story of Little Crow, a son of a powerful Ottawa chief that came to live in the area. It goes as follows:

A village maiden goes missing. A search party, led by Little Crow, is sent out, locating her in a neighboring village. While the other tribe was out, Little Crow rescued her and earned his nickname: As- ha-wau-bo-my. It means side looks which is the way the other tribes squaws were looking at him while he was rescuing the girl.

The village is now a modern settlement and is a home to the Green Bay Packers’ outdoor and indoor training facilities.
